What a day! Over 100mm of rain fell during the afternoon on top of another 100mm that had fallen overnight.

I must start by paying tribute to the old Shoalies who built this ground with their bare hands some 40 odd years ago. The ground took the weekends punishment in its stride.
It is easily the best wet weather ground in the zone. Our current Shoalies owe you blokes a debt that we can not hope to repay.

Second grade was a cracking game played at a high standard by both teams.
Very little dropped ball saw some good hard wet weather footy, with Shoalies eventually prevailing 14 - 10 off the boot of Tom Sims.
But it was again the older brigade that muscled up and relished the conditions.
Shoalies started to dominate when Adam Sargeant entered the fray midday through first half.
Best for seconds was young Lorcan Barbarian, Josh Dennis and the entire hardworking front row.

Well what a game firsts was this weekend!
We came out very strong and expected this to be an easy game after two early tries to Aaron McDonnell and Blake Gurney.
Then unfortunately it was a scoreless affair for the Shoals for next 60 mins of the game.

Macca was first to cross the line after Shoals got a scrum deep in Camden territory and what other move than "Irish" could you call in this position.
Macca came back on the inside of number 10 Conor Trudgett to find some lazy defenders and strolled over under the posts almost untouched.
7-0 Shoalies.
Camden then fought back and their forwards really took over driving low and scoring in the corner to take the score to 7-5 Shoalies.

The second try from winger Blake Gurney was what coach Paul Connor would call a play "if you don't score you are getting dragged off" with Conor dragging a few players under him and kicking the ball through the line into the in goal and finding a flying Blake diving on the ball for a try.
12-5 Shoalies

Camden answered quickly, and crossed again to make it 12-10 Shoals.

The rest of the game was not much to talk about from Shoals, as we gave Camden every opportunity to win the game. Shoals kept inviting them to win with numerous turn overs and many penalties.

Camden had one last chance to get the win with a penalty right on the buzzer but it swung to the right and with that the game finished.
Look for a big game next week to make up for a poor performance this week.

And thats the captains call for this week.
